学院简介：外国语学院，原名陈琳外国语学院，成立于2001年7月，由陈琳教授任第一任院长。2008年3月，陈琳院长离职。原北京外国语大学校长、现北京吉利大学董事会专家咨询委员会主席陈乃芳教授任名誉院长，常务副院长由归国博士研究生熊伟担任。2008年4月7日，学院正式更名为外国语学院。

到目前为止，我院行政人员14人，班主任16人，教师58人，其中外籍教师13人。学生2141人，共有45个班，其中文考、自考23个班，高职14个班,311品牌专业8个班；已开设英语、日语、法语和俄语四个语种，下设9个专业。毕业生主要在外事、经贸、文化、新闻出版、教育、科研、旅游等部门从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作。

Foreign Languages College, formerly Chen Lin Foreign Languages College established in July 2001, is one of the oldest colleges in this very young university. It is well-known in the university for the quality of its teaching staff and its students. It has a very unique privilege to have Professor Chen Lin, the renowned English language pedagogue in China, as its first Dean, and to have Professor Chen Naifang, formerly president of the Beijing Foreign Studies University, as its current Honorary Dean. Thanks to their reputation and expertise, the college has been able to rally to its course a corps of excellent and stable teaching personnel, totaling at the present 58 members including a staff of 13 foreign teachers.

       For the past years, the college has achieved the feat of evolving from its initial size of 17 students on a monolingual syllabus – English to its present dimension of 2141 students in four different languages, i.e. English, Japanese, French and Russian. A special feature of its course design is the practical orientation of foreign languages being taught here, introducing for example business studies and tourism in its language tuition.

       Now with the second phase of the development ushered in on the university level, the college is to continue its leading role by engaging in a revolutionary reform of its curricula and teaching method, vowed to have a resounding influence in the domain of foreign language teaching.

   师资力量：学院拥有得天独厚的办学优势和条件，现任及前任院长均在国内、外教育界享有很高的声誉，使得学院有条件聘请到一大批优秀中外教师来院任教，其中包括多年在海外从事语言教学的归国学者、也包括具有丰富的企业经验的双师型人才和具有TEFL教师资格证的外籍教师。

         团学活动：学院以院团总支、学生会牵头开展学生活动，每年举办十余次大型文体活动，最为突出的是英语演讲比赛和外文歌曲大赛，受到全校师生的好评。2007年12月，我院的外文歌曲大赛活动作为北京吉利大学校园文化成果荣获吉利集团首届文化大赛二等奖。

发展前景：我院在短短的几年内由最初的单一语种“英语”发展到目前的四个语种。我院今后的发展方向为：继续开辟其它语种，如德语、西班牙语、韩语和阿拉伯语，并以实用和就业为导向继续开辟其它外语类专业（如网络软件日语等）。
